Our Story

Growing up as the youngest in a family of 4 children, a lot of my childhood was spent with my mother, watching her cook, and trying her food. My mother is a traditional Indonesian woman, raised to be a devoted wife, whose main responsibilities involved cooking for the family and the community. Food was a staple in our family gatherings and many other things we were a part of in which I have only come to appreciate now.

I find myself doing all the things my mother did growing up and I actually enjoy every minute of it. Even as a working mother of 2 and a wife, I choose to be the cook at home and I especially love cooking with my mother's recipes. Just like her, I take pleasure in providing food for my friends and catering for the community especially during this pandemic. I now, understand how my mother was using food to show her care and spread the love.

Having lived in Los Angeles for over 25 years now, food heals the longing and helps fill the void. Through food, I enjoy making friends and expanding my community. Food brings us together; it turns strangers into friends and friends into family.

With Iboe's Bowl, I hope to share my love for my mother's cooking and my appreciation for Indonesian food. Alongside my foodie friends, we look forward to bringing even more variety of our mothers' recipes while striving to use fresh local ingredients, organic produce, halal meats, and eco-friendly packaging.

Bring home a bowl of Iboe's... a bowl for the soul.
